I first moved to Guelph in 1994, when I was 15 years old. My parents chose the city after relocating from Victoria, BC. We had family nearby, Guelph was affordable at the time, and most importantly, it was a safe and beautiful place for my sister and I to grow up. What started as a family decision quickly became the foundation of a lifelong connection to the city.
Our first home in Guelph was in Parkwood Gardens, a neighbourhood that shaped my teenage years and gave me some of my earliest memories of what community really means. I have many fond memories of meeting new friends through sandlot baseball or playing pond hockey through the winter. Having not learned to skate until moving to the colder climate of Ontario my new friends were very understanding and accepting of my learning curve, but my competitive spirit more than made up for my lack of finesse.
I attended Guelph Collegiate Vocational Institute (GCVI), where I spent much of my free time around Exhibition Park and the downtown area. Guelph in the mid-90s had a special charm — a blend of small-town familiarity with the energy of a growing city.
During those years, I made many friendships. One of those friendships, which began when I was 16, has lasted to this day. That friend and I went on to attend college together and even worked side by side for many years as we launched our careers as mechanical engineering designers.
Though my family briefly moved back to BC after high school, it didn’t take long to realize what we were missing. Within a year, we returned to Guelph — proof of just how much the city had already become home.
Our second home in Guelph was in West Willow Woods, where I lived while attending Conestoga College for Mechanical Engineering Technology – Design & Analysis. Around the same time, I met my wife in 1999 while she was studying at the University of Guelph.
Our first apartment together was right downtown, just a block from where Red Brick Real Estate Brokerage is located today — the brokerage I am now proud to be partnered with in Guelph. It’s a reminder of how my story and my career have always been tied to this city.
In 2004, my wife and I were married, and we had bought our first home together back in Parkwood Gardens, the same area where I grew up. We were the first of our friends to take that leap into homeownership, and many great memories were made in that house as we started our lives together.
A few years later, we decided to build a new home in the south end Pine Ridge neighbourhood. We enjoyed our time there, appreciating how quickly the south end of Guelph was growing, with new schools, parks, and shopping making it an ideal place for young families.
By 2010, as our family started to grow, we made the decision to move to Cambridge, where detached homes were still more affordable compared to Guelph’s rising market. Our son was born that same year, and the move gave us the space we needed at the time.
Over the years, my wife and I have moved several times — in fact, our family has lived in three more homes since leaving Guelph. Today, we’ve settled in Palmerston, Ontario, where we enjoy the quiet and close-knit feel of rural life.
Still, Guelph is never far from our story. My wife continues to work in the city and will likely finish her career there. And as for me, partnering with Red Brick Real Estate Brokerage in Guelph means I’m able to enjoy the best of both worlds: working in the city I love while also serving the community I now call home.
Looking back, my passion for real estate was there long before I became a licensed agent. My wife and I moved every few years in those early days, and I always loved the process of searching for homes, exploring new neighbourhoods, and taking on the challenges of settling somewhere new.
That passion for real estate combines perfectly with my desire to help others through what is often the largest — and most stressful — decision of their lives. Today, as a Guelph real estate agent, I use my lived experience and professional training to guide clients through buying or selling with as much confidence and ease as possible.
Whether I’m working with first-time buyers, families moving into a larger home, or downsizers ready for a new chapter, my approach is always the same: go above and beyond to make the process smoother and less stressful, while offering trusted advice every step of the way.
Guelph is more than just a market to me — it’s my hometown. I grew up here, built lifelong friendships here, met my wife here, and bought my first home here. Few things are more rewarding than being able to now help others start their own stories in the same city.
If you’re looking for a licenced salesperson who knows not just the market, but also the community, the neighbourhoods, and the lifestyle that comes with living in this city, I’d be happy to be your guide.
From my early days in Parkwood Gardens to life downtown, from building a home in Pine Ridge to starting my career steps from Red Brick’s current office, Guelph has been the backdrop to many of the most important chapters of my life.
Now, as a real estate agent in Guelph, I’m proud to help clients discover their own place in this incredible city — whether it’s a first condo, a family home, or the perfect spot to retire.
If you’re thinking about making a move in Guelph, I’d love to talk. Let’s find the home that feels right for you.
